IT SEEMS THAT WHEN I PRESS THE VOLUME BUTTONS ON THE ZAPPER IT TAKES A LONG TIME UNTIL I CAN TURN THE VOLUME UP TO A DECENT LEVEL. I CAN'T JUST HOLD DOWN THE VOLUME BUTTONS TO MAKE IT LOUDER MORE QUICKLY LIKE I CAN WITH MY ORIGINAL REMOTE.

You can change the gap between commands to a shorter interval. It defaults to half a second, which is probably why its really slow for you!
Go into Devices, then choose "Change the speed settings for a device". Pick the relevant device, then change "Inter-Key Delay" to 100. This will make it send 10 key presses a second, which should be more useful.
Alternatively, when it first recorded your button press, it might have only got the "Press" code and not the "Press and Hold" code. Maybe re-recording the button might solve the problem.
