OK, could someone explain the logic behind having the REPLACE BATTERIES notice accompanied by constant LCD backlighting and lighting of the red LED? Surely if the batteries are truly low, this is a guaranteed way to drain the remote in no time... thus replacing that handy "replace batteries" message with a totally dead remote!

I agree, Dan. My Marantz RC-2000 does the same thing; the backlight comes on every several seconds, fades like it usually does, and pops back on again.

I thought,"How ridiculous! Use up the low batteries faster than normal!" Especially nutty with remotes that will dump memory if the batteries go completely dead. Who thinks up this stuff?
