Firstly, I apologise if this is detailed elsewhere, but I did search and couldn't find the answer.

Basically, I am new to Harmony remotes and I was hoping to be able to directly select my 4 HDMI devices (rather than go through a menu selection screen, if using the original TV remote).

The TV, a Samsung 40LEA656 has HDMI 1, 2 & 3 listed as discreet commands in its database, but not HDMI 4 (which I do use).

I cannot simply learn the command as the original remote doesn't have direct HDMI inputs. To get to any HDMI source, you have to either scroll through ALL inputs until you get to the one you want, or enter the menu, select inputs and then scroll through a ;ist of all available inputs until you reach the one you want.

Is it possible to add HDMI 4 as a discrete code to the 785 ? If so, how do I do this (bearing in mind I am new to learning remotes).

Thanks,
Kevin.

Set your Activities that use input HDMI4 to InputHDMI3 then include as "Additional Command When Activity Starts" an InputNext command.

Thanks,

That's what I am (kinda) doing at the moment.

I've only had the 785 for a few days, and haven't got my head around "activities" yet, so I doing everything in "devices" mode right now.

To get to HDMI 4, I am ging to HDMI 3 and then pressing "next channel".

Same as you are saying, but manually. I just thought it would be nice to have a dedicate, discrete HDMI 4 button.

Cheers,
Kevin.

It may not exist. Mfrs don't always update the IR commands when they add inputs.

Activities are easy - just think of an activity as a unique combination of devices and input settings. The advantage is it will automatically turn the devices on and off as needed and select the right input (including your situation above) and it will allow you to have different buttons programmed to different devices (volume controls A/V receiver, channel controls cable box, LCD buttons control TV functions, etc.).

It's easy - don't wait!

You, and many others of us, are lucky to have any discrete commands at all!
They don't come with the original remote controls, and if someone finds them and has them added to the Logi database that's purely a bonus that comes with having a Harmony.
There's no point in having a Harmony and not using Activities.
You set up your devices, then allocate the devices to activities, in a process that's just as simple and straightforward as setting up the devices was!
When you do set up an Activity that needs HDMI4 you'll find, after setting HDMI3, that there's an option to include Additional Commands When Activity Starts, which is where you can enter the InputNext that you need. You don't need any actual input "buttons"; the Activities do all the input changing for you.

Just to clarify: When you create or review an activity, select the option "Yes, but I want to add more control of options and devices for this Activity". This will allow you to access the activity Start/Stop macros feature to include that additional "InputNext" command when that activity starts.
