I have a new Harmony one. It was easy to set up but I have one problem trying to make it eject the DVD in my Sony DVD player after I hit the Off button (that turns the DVD watching activity off).

I have added the following leave actions; turn on the DVD player then eject the DVD with a one second delay for each. Do these commands occur after the system (and DVD player) is turned off or before (in which case my commands should not do anything).

I am doing this correctly as it is not working? Do I need to put more of a time delay before the commands are executed?

Thanks for any help on this issue.

The activity exit commands will be run before anything is turned off. You just need to add the eject command (maybe preceded by a stop command) at activity exit. Ditch the power command.

Also check the activity and/or device options for start/stop commands specifically for DVD players.

A few thoughts [edit] all now answered!
After you've finished your entire viewing session by pressing the off button, it's obviously too late for anything else to be done.
What do you mean by a "leave action"?
If you're in the DVD Activity why do you need to "turn on the DVD player"?
Any command set as "Additional when Activity stops" is naturally sent before the device is turned off - which is what you want.

Some DVD players perform a Close DVD Tray when a Power Off signal is sent. Assuming the very last signal seen by the DVD player is "Power Off" that would explain why the door/tray is not remaining open.

As mentioned by SaltiDawg, most (if not all) DVD players will close their tray after receiving a power off signal. If you want to delay the power off signal, then add a long delay after the open tray/eject command in the activity exit macro.

As mentioned by Akirby, also check the DVD activity "Play on Enter" and "Stop on Exit" options in the Activity Options. These options are under:
o Activity > Settings > Change Options - for the Client Software Interface
o Activity > Customize > Change Options - for the Website Interface

I get it - and I don't see any way around it - SaltiDawg's assumption is obviously correct.
I have "eject" on a spare button, so it's an easy manual job for me:-)

I also have "eject" on an LCD button but most of the time I press the eject button on the player itself since have to walk over there anyway.

Yes, as the idea must be to extract the DVD, and then you also close the drawer manually! :-):-)

I have migrated from a Pronto TSU 2000 where my last command is to eject the disc from the DVD player. I then take the disc out and turn the DVD player off.

I was trying to simulate those actions with the Harmony One but I guess that is not possible as the eject command will be quickly followed by a command to turn off the DVD which reverses the eject command (powering the DVD player causes the DVD tray to retract back into the DVD player).

It does seem like the Harmony system is really not set up to accomplish the above task.

By "leave actions" I meant leave the activity.

So the scenario was similar to jlet's in #8 - "turn the DVD player off" was done manually?
If so you'd be best setting the DVD to be "on all the time", and powering it manually.

Another option - if you want it to power on automatically but power off manually, just give it a bogus command for power off.

My method is simply to press the eject command (on the player or the harmony) prior to changing activity or pressing the Harmony Off button.

How do you give it a bogus command to power off?

I thought that when I pressed the OFF button (to exit the watch TV activity), the Harmony remote has already figured out how to power it off and does not depend upon me entering any other commands (so there should be no way that I can override turning it off once the OFF button has been pressed).
