I added the zap button functionality to take me back to the root activities menu. Running the test/preview shows that it will actually take me back to the root menu, but it won't let me select an activity after that unless I power on and off again.

Here's the XML - any ideas on what I'm missing?

<ADDMENUBINDING>
    <TARGETMENU>VirtualTelevision_Watch Television_ModeControl</TARGETMENU>
    <BINDING>
        <EVENT>ButtonClick_Zap</EVENT>
        <ACTION>
            <TARGET>SsNavigator</TARGET>
            <OPERATION>SetMenu Root</OPERATION>
        </ACTION>
    </BINDING>
</ADDMENUBINDING>

Also, is there anyway to add this functionality at the "processor" or highest level like the Power On button in the Shortcut activity? I'd like to avoid re-binding the Zap button for every activity and menu.

Thanks,

Andrew.

Andrew,

With the help of the Harmony Customer Service team, I have my ZAP button linked to the main menu. The solution they gave me requires the addition of a Change Button Function for every activity and mode. It really did not take as long as I thought, and it works great.

Here are the Customer Service directions:

- Add a Change Button Mapping activity for the activity you want to customize (add an infrared command to Zap in the Control Mode menu for example)
- select My Activities, Modify XML for an activity, then select the Change Button Mapping activity you just created.
- change the ACTION XML in both places (WEBDATA and DATA) to this: (Change ( to <, etc)

(ACTION)
(TARGET)SsNavigator(/TARGET)
(OPERATION)SetMenu Root(/OPERATION)
(/ACTION)

Once you hit the ZAP button you HAVE to change activites, you cannot go back to your current activity.
I hope this helps.

Thanks Axel,

You've answered all my questions.

I didn't realize that I had to select a new activity after hitting the reconfigured ZAP button. Since I was testing it with only one activity, and it wouldn't let me chosse it again I figured I was doing something wrong.

Thanks again,

Andrew.
