I was gonna return this thing. But then I thought 'With a little tweaking, this thing would be so sweet." So I kept it.

I nuked my regular config, and selected one device. A stereo receiver I have here in my office (no more running downstairs to try changes). My first goal was to re-map a hard button to some other function. "How hard can that be?"

I choose to try mapping NavUp button to 'InputCd' function.
So per the example on the advanded page I copy this code into my device xml. (Between the replace braces)I could care less about the menu addition, for this little exercise, just wanna re-map a button.

my modification...

NavUp

InputCd

MyTitle

InputCd

Complete xml for this device...

498

NavUp

InputCd

MyTitle

InputCd

Well it don't work. I tried inserting the HTML 'outside' all of the exisitng xml for the device but kept getting errors. That's why I chose to include it within the /replace 'braces' I call 'em braces 'cuz I have no clue what the proper name is.

Hhhhmmmm...
Perhaps I should try sticking this in the Activity XML instead. I'll try that next.

I guess cut-n-pasting xml into a thread renders it unreadable. (see above) Next time I'll preview my thread.

Anyway, attacking my ReplayTV woes on the device side is probably not the way to go. So I switched to the Activity Side.

I noticed this weekend that a 'utility' activity with 'change button function' was available. How long this has been available I do not know. But after poking around a bit I thought that this item was the 'cat's A$$' to use a phrase.

But upon adding my ReplayTV to my config, I noticed that the wizard no longer creates a 'Watch ReplayTV' activity. Upon which I could (hopefully) remap enogh button to make the harmony a suitable controller for the raply. But no activity = screwed again.

Next, I make my own 'generic' activity. But alas, the change button function don't like it 'cuz there isn't any menu(s) associated with it.

Next I try & make my own menu for the activity. Following the syntax provided by the advanced pages. But although it 'compiles' with no errors. I get no menus.

I've put this in customer support's lap. And wait for a response.

My ReplayTV seems to be the red headed step child of my system. Too bad, 'cuz it's by far the most used item. Live TV blows chunks.

An Update:
I just discovered where the 'Wath PVR' activity was hiding.

My Activites, New Activity, Watch PVR...

With this activity back in my config, and two menus under it play & navigate. I should be set. the change button function activity should meet my needs now. I'll know soon enough.

I know 99% of you could care less about this. I post it here for the other ReplayTV users who are baffled like I was/am.

I love this remote again.

After configuring the 'Watch PVR' activity, and then remapping most of the buttons under the play, and nav submenus. All is well with the world. My Harmony controls the ReplayTV unit pretty much completely.
