I'm interested in finding out what DVD player out there is a good solid DVD player. I've seen the Sony's and think they feel kinda cheap for the money-not to mention some lip sync problems. How is the Pioneer DV-606d or the DV-525 for quality and features? How is the audio portion for regular CD's? Any other recommendations? I have a sony 50es receiver (awesome unit).
Thanks for the advice.

If you want a solid DVD player get the Sony S7700 or find an old S7000. Very well built machines.

Scratch the word solid. What I mean is quality.

Well, they're also that. :-) The old Sony S500D/S300 players also were excellent quality. It's only the newest generation that has the possible lipsync problem. And I warn you, may other players feel a heck of a lot cheaper. The Pioneer is a good player with great quality video -- provided you don't get one with the lip sync problem (they were the ones that made it famous). For playing audio CDs, you may want to look for a player with dual lasers. Many -- including the newest Sony's -- have a single laser as opposed to one dedicated to DVDs and another dedicated to CDs. I'm not certain what the current status of Pioneer is in that regards.

Is price an object???

If not, if you want quality, and solid and all that, go with the THX-Ultra Certified Denon DVD-5000.

Price??
A mere $2500
