why can't I play cd-r audio cds in sony 530d ?
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I'm afraid the DVP-S330, DVP-S530D and DVP-S550D can not play CD-R discs. They can however play CD-RW discs.
Sony's previous models (such as the DVP-S500D) can play CD-R but not CD-RW. The reason for this is the older models used a dual-laser system, one for DVD and one for CD. The new players use a "Precision Drive" single laser for both.

Does anyone know if the Pioneer D500 will read CD-RW? I know that it will not read CD-R.........
