So what are the top (renting?) 25 titles on DIVX for the same period?

Any figures for DIVX players for the same period? :-)

Heh..heh... I don't think DIVX released enough titles to even have a Top 25.

But, let's say that there is a "Top 25" for DIVX. That would be the "Top 25" movie rental (the initial purchase counts once, plus any subsequent viewings). The funny thing is, they (DIVX) can't release this information because if they do, it would violate their privacy statement (we will not release your information to anyone...).

So in conclusion, DIVX can't have a "Top 25", or "Top 10"... simply because that just represent the movie purchases, but not the subsequent viewing counts.

I think it is not good marketing...What good is it when you can't 'brag' about your figures and 'top' titles to put a bit of 'peer' pressure on consumers? :-)

I have the feeling that if they did "brag" about their numbers people would quickly realize DIVX was a sinking ship. DIVX Player sales aren't important. Even the initial DIVX disc sales aren't important - what's important are subsequent rentals, that's where they make their money. I doubt these figures will ever be released.

So it'll probably go into the same category of mystery as the Kennedy assassination, Marilyn Monroe's death, UFO existence on earth and Area 51?

To bad you guys don't have a Divx player. You would not have buy DVD movies that you've seen already. Or be pissed because you just spent 25 buck on a movie that you have not seen and it stunk big time. Just like all those VHS rentals I never purchased. For the average consumer Divx makes sense. I love the Divx idea!

First of all, DIVX doesn't work anywhere else but the US.

Second of all, if there aren't that many DIVX titles around, then the choices can't be that good, so you'll probably still have to go either to VHS rental or DVD rentals to see all the other movies that are not on DIVX anyway?

Thirdly, I buy a lot of movies (VHS and DVD) and I don't pay 25 bucks for them. Out of all my purchases, there's about less than 20 of them that I regret buying. That's less than about 2% of my entire collection.
