Hi. I do video presentations in remote villages in Africa. Lots of places have no power. I would like to power my set-up with a boat battery rather than a generator, if possible, because of the noise issue. Could anyone please tell me what size boat battery I would need to power my set-up, and how much would the battery weigh?
I have:
A Sony 2000 lumen lcd projector. On the back plate it says:100 - 240 volts/ 2.4 - 1.0 amps, 50/60Hz.
An Armco DVD-DX600 dvd player. On the back it says: AC 240 volts -50Hz -25W
An AMPEX AX575MS amplifier. On the back it says:
18W+10W*2(RMS) P.M.P.0.1000w, Impedence 4(OHM)
Frequency response: subwoofer amplifier: 20hz-20hz; satellite amplifier 100hz-20Khz; subwoofer speaker:20hz-300hz; satellite speaker 100hz-20khz; separation: >45dB; S/n ratio >75dB
We use 220 volt power here in Kenya.
I need your help because these numbers don't mean much to me. I always went comatose in school as soon as I heard the word "electricity". It was just like a hypnotist snapping his fingers in front of my eyes.

Shop for batteries. The higher the amp-hours, the longer they'll last. Weigh the batteries, if that's a factor that'll influence your purchase choice. You'll also need a power inverter to change the battery's DC voltage to the 220 volt AC that's required for your projector, amplifier, and dvd player.
See how long you can run the equipment before the battery dies! If the run time is too short, buy another battery to double the time, and so on. Connect the batteries in parallel.
Buy solar panels and use them to charge the batteries, or to keep the batteries running longer between charges.
