Hey all, I have a client who has a Sony BDS-500, and she says when ever she stops a Blu-Ray disc not a standard DVD, a resume "off" prompt appears, meaning that when she hits play again, the Blu-Ray disc starts at the top all over again. I didn't install this piece, but I'm going out to the house this Friday and any tips would be appreciated. I just downloaded the pdf manual, and I didn't see anything regarding the resume disc feature?

If there IS a resume feature, if it's anything like the PS3's it won't work at this time with any Java-enabled disc (which seems to be the majority these days).

Hey Daniel, thanks for responding. I'm not sure I understand your comment as I'm new to Blu-Ray media, is all Blu-Ray Java based? I have a client who has a PS3, and stopping the dvd player and resuming is not an issue with him?

My client just rented Shooter, and the Blu-Ray media resumed? So I guess it is a Java programming thang! Thanks for your help. b.

Apparantly if the disc loads custom java elements, resume doesn't function. This isn't apparantly a limitation on PC-based systems, so there's hope it might be improved on the PS3.

This sounds like the promise of a really capable medium, which is to say the thread of non-standardization.
They can make DVDs that don't give you much control. The Academy (for your consideration) copies of Cast Away would only play start to finish. Pause, Scan or Skip took the movie back the FBI warning.
Now add this Java thing, that DVD creators are probably not thinking about in terms of what it will do to your ability to use the disc as you're used to using a DVD.
