Does anyone know when the Sony DVP-S7700 (DTS and Dolby Digital) will be available? Also, any knowledge why Sony keeps delaying its introduction? I saw a picture of it in a review magazine in November '98, and the Sony customer assistance guy says that there is no official date yet, but he suspects it might be in March of 1999.

I'm getting tired of waiting. Any suggestions for a DTS & Dolby Digital alternate?

Oddly enough, I've heard of people buying the 7700 in Toronto. I'm not sure why Sony hasn't released in the US yet... The 7000/7700 are in a class of their own right now. There's alternates (Toshiba, Panasonic, etc.) but nothing as high-end or high-quality as the Sony.

I guess everyone knows the 7700 is out now and has been out for a while. Specs are everywhere, on the web and especially in magazines. Definitely the best player out for the money. Buy it over other brands without question. Sony is one of the only ones with dual laser pickup(if not the only one), not to mention everything else it has.
