Amazon has the same player for $576.48 here:
[Link: amazon.com]

And the 5 free movies as well.
Great Customer service from J&R though.
Nevere ordered Electronics from Amazon.
I own the XA-2 and love it. Toshiba mails me Firmware
updates on a CD as they become available. Great customer
service from Toshiba too.
My major gripe about the XA-2 is no discrete codes for
on and off.

Just an FYI:
I was curious about the Amazon.com price so I checked out the link. It's now listed for $569.99 w/ free shipping and the 5 free HD movie offer. I gotta say that lately I've heard a lot of bad reports about Amazon.com. I checked out their customer reviews on Reseller.com and there are a lot of dissatisfied customers.

I just gave J&R a call and they have matched Amazon's online price of $569.99, free shipping, no tax and the 5 free HD movies to boot. I ordered it! I guess I'll be selling my 1 month old Oppo DV-981HD player. If interested, let me know @ ebandback@yahoo.com to discuss price.

EDITED: Corrected the e-mail address

Erock1,
Yikes. The A-2 has a $100 mfg rebate right now. And the rumor is (I do mean rumor) Toshiba will extent the mfg rebate to the XA-2 on June 10th. That puts it at $469.99 and you still get 5 free movies.

It's not a rumor. I copied this from Toshiba's web site:
[Link: tacp.toshiba.com]

NEW – Instant Rebates:
From June 10 through June 16, consumers that purchase any Toshiba HD DVD player will receive a $100 in-store only instant rebate. For individuals seeking the complete home theater package, an HD DVD player can be purchased with any Toshiba 42" (measured diagonally) or larger HDTV for a $200 in-store instant rebate.

I called J&R and they said they would allow me to cancel my purchase and that I could purchase again on 6/10 but the $100 in-store discount would be on the original $599 price not the $569 all inclusive price that I got and tax and shipping would be additional. So basically ($599 - $100=$499 + $41 tax + $30 S&H=$570) I'm still ahead by $1.00 :>) Hay, maybe I can use that with my wife ;>)

When I read that I thought I should have gotten my A-2 for $199! The $299 sale price - $100 rebate. Of course after some research it turns out that sale price was $399 with the $100 instant rebate.

Still a good deal. Now I just have to find a good source to rent HD-DVDs from. One can only watch King Kong and Serenity (the two I own) once or twice before they becomes boring. Sadly, the choices list for the 5 free HD-DVDs is full of movies I've already seen on standard DVD.
