I have two Sony DVP-CX995V changers (considering adding a third), HTPC with HDMI or VGA out and a Samsung HLR-7178W with 2 HDMI inputs. I need an HDMI switch that will work with this set up. I have tried a 5 input Monoprice HDMI switch (Rev. 2.1 as I recall) with no luck. At the manufacturer’s suggestion, I was able to get one of the DVD changers to work on input 5 but it drops out and goes to green screen intermittently at short random intervals. The changer on input 4 works when first turned on and after a few seconds goes to green screen and stays green. The video card with HDMI output works on any of the 5 inputs.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a 3 to 5 input, single output (with IR remote control) that will work with the Sonys? Any suggestions are welcomed at this point.

Thanks,
Don

Possibly the Zektor Product line has something that might interest you?

It's funny, earlier in the day I was suggesting the same product name to another RC member;

Sounds like the monoprice switch is bad. I have 2 995's working with that switch.

Thanks for the link wjjz106. I'll check into it...but the $$$ has already made me wince a few times. ;-)

Dave, according to some guy at Monoprice, it's not unusual for the 995's to not work. He stated that most people have best results using inputs 4 and 5. I'm returning mine to the company I bought it from for a refund and may try dealing directly with Monoprice (depending on their return policy). Also Monoprice is about $20 cheaper than where I bought the first one.

At any rate it handshakes with my video card just fine, but does not like my Sony changers.

L8r & thanks again,
Don

I decided to give this one a try from Radiient:

[Link: radiient.com]

The tech guy there said that they were not aware of any problems with my hardware and their units. They also have various remote file formats (CCF, MX, etc.) so you can hopefully get by without the "Pro remote". If not, you can get it for $19.99 more. I did not need the RS-232 on the more expensive unit they offer.

[added 11APR2007]
As a follow up to the above, I received the unit and appears to work without any problems. I even moved DVD HDMI and PC HDMI to different inputs to make sure all inputs worked equally well....and they did. So far looks like it will be exactly what I need.

Thanks to everyone for suggestions,
Don
