Hello......... I'm new here and hope this is the correct forum.
I just bought a Sony rdrvx515 bare bones machine (that is without a remote). It plays back ok, but, I think I need a remote to easily do any recordings. We have old VHS tapes that we plan to burn onto DVD's.
Now for your help.
I have (what I think will work) a Phillips remote controller I bought at a yard sale. It works for my Phillips big screen TV. I'm always looking for remotes d/t them getting lost or breaking.
Well this Phillips remote has 8 buttons close to the top and 1 of them indicates DVR. I'm guessing that it might work on the Sony recorder. The remote does not have a model number...... but inside the battery compartment is a code CL019. Is this the model number? If it is I'm looking for the instruction manual of how to program this Phillips remote control.
I could buy what looks similiar on e-bay for about $35, but if this little gem would do the trick, why spend the money.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is most likely the serial # and not the model #. You may have the PMDVR8 model remote and if so a quick read through the manual may help you out with the codes.

Get it here:
