Interesting

The 360's HD-DVD drive apparently works with PC's, although drivers aren't present yet.

If someone creates them, It'll be a cheap HD-DVD player without the 360. Plug it into the computer, take the VGA output to the TV, and bingo!

There is hope:

Someone else suggested the possibility of using a general IR -> USB adapter here:

I don't know if that would work but maybe someone here has both an IR -> USB unit and a first party Sony PS2 DVD remote to test with on the PS3.

How about an RS232 to bluetooth adaptor:

[Link: expansys.com]

I would think you could use this adaptor and suitable PC software to view the codes transmitted by Sony's PS3 Bluetooth remote. Then you could connect the adaptor to the RS232 ouput of a universal remote (e.g. Pronto TSU9600) and send the relevant Bluetooth commands direct to the PS3.

However, I don't know enough about Bluetooth/RS232/PS3s to know whether this would work - can anyone else comment?
