I'm sorry, but that's just stupid (on the part of anyone that buys one for such a price). I want one, pretty bad too, but I'm not about to pay more than MSRP! As far as I'm concerned, buying anything at full MSRP is already splurging! :-)

I'm willing to wait until the new year...

hate to see the scenes outside the stores now.

I was going around with my dad to get some school materials, I pass by a walmart and I see about 100 people! I was on my way to target, i get out and see a speacial area filled with about 120 people wating for it. I pass by the local cc and see another 100 people. I also have a bb right next to my house area in the market place area, it was filled with about 160 people! Every were i went i saw a crowd of people.

Stupid is what stupid does.... I love that line.

I heard radio reports this morning of people in line at my local Sony Store that have been there since 10pm the day before yesterday..? The amazing part is, like it has already been mentioned, the limited amount of units. A small amount of research and these people could have found out how many units would be available at whatever location they were headed for. The dim wit that is 21st in line at the location with only 20 units is obviously wasting his time. Seems a long time to wait in hopes that someones debtcard or visa doesn't work...lol

I think the prospect of bluetooth remotes is awesome.... In stead of a Pronto being IR with an extender. Make it IR with bluetooth....awesome. It's all about easy 2 way communication.

Yes, Bluetooth may be good, but it is not standard, and therefore not useful.

Exactly.

I'm not sure on what options the PS3 accepts, but if it can take a USB keyboard - and if the Blu-Ray player has all its commands assigned to keystrokes - then a IR to USB adaptor would be simple. If there's no keyboard support *and* Sony hasn't anticipated any sort of non-Bluetooth input support for the Blu-Ray application, then someone might have to create a USB to Bluetooth adaptor, which is the more awkward and tricky solution.

No way each bb gets 60, cc, 60, target 60, walmart 60, gamestop 16, eb games 16, sony styles 20.

I read in the news that 500 PS3s sold on eBay last Friday for an average price of $2,800!

OTAHD agree, especially trying to integrate with today's tech. Like Daniel, I am 100% sure that Sony or a third party will make an IR receiver/remote option. it could be USB/IR, it could be Bluetooth/IR.... my point was simply that bluetooth can do so much more then IR (it is wireless rs-232) if control goes into that direction I see it as a positive, not a negative. Yes it might have been nice to have the IR receiver in the box, but there is already so much and IR is not needed for anything else.

PS I agree wioth most here paying X000 for a PS3 is nuts, it is not as if people don't know the real price that overhead is just to get something before anyone else.

Well, i
understand that graphics of 360 are very good, but i also
understand that ps3 comes with blu-ray. I have seen blu-ray
dvd's right against regular dvd's and the blue-ray looked
so much better. If the ps3 games are going to be blu-ray,
which they are, i know that the ps3 graphics will be better.

That is the most ludicrous statement I have ever read - blueray is a type of media, just because when VIDEO data is stored on one looks good - it has no relation to how good the produced graphics will look when actual DATA is stored on one.

Actually, Resistance: Fall of Man is 22GB or so on a 25GB
Bluray.

Games can easily fit on a standard DVD with plenty of room for future expansion, developers will however not be bothered to keep sizes down if they can freely use 20+GB; it doesnt mean they cant though.

I think what Ali was trying to come across with..... BluRay with its much larger usable space can have more accurate/detailed information store on it. Movies are more visually pleasing because of this extra information. Video games should and do work under the same premise. The more information at hand, the better detail in audio and video. Everything is data...whether it be a movie or a video game.

Of course the same level of detail can be saved on a typical DVD. However that would mean several DVDs for one game/movie. That costs money for the production companies, and I for one don't want to change DVDs during a movie.

smokinghot exactly more capacity means more and more higher quality textures.

there was a day a 5 1/4 was enough for a game and nothing more was needed. Then 3.5, then CD then DVD now it is time to move to bigger and better things. There are already some games that won't fit on a DVD
