And HD-DVD seems like it's ahead of Blu-Ray, for the time being at least.

They already stated that they released the PS3 with known bugs. Sounds a little rushed, doesn't it? Sounds like what Microsoft used to do with Windows.

Wow...I thought the premium version was $499. Upon further review the base version is $499.

So by claiming requires nothing extra to play Blu-Ray, it says nothing as 360 can play HD-DVD for the same cost.

As for the "used to" part, that's only becuase they haven't really released an OS in 5 years, and I haven't seen Vista yet, although I'm sure it'll be full of bugs.

Even though ps3 has bugs, i'm sure that 360 had its fair share of them too. I have a lot of friends that have said their 360's have just broken, or just shut down. My best friend got one when it came out, and his just shut down after a couple months. He called microsoft and they actually admited it was a bug in their system since they couldn't fix it at all over troubleshooting.

Vista is actually a great OS. My uncle is a computer engineer in canada and he got an early version of it. It's not filled with bugs at all and it's more like a microsoft OS, mixed with a Mac style layout.

Ok, that's common sense, but in my opinon you kind of said that 360 didn't have errors, and that ps3 will have a lot. Sorry for misunderstanding.

The quality of the games has absolutley NOTHING to do with the storage media the system will be using, except having a bit more space, which no games will take up anytime soon.

Actually, Resistance: Fall of Man is 22GB or so on a 25GB Bluray. And others have also taken more than the 9GB available to Xbox on a DVD. M$ doesn't currently plan on using HDDVDs for games, which would allow 15 or 30GB discs. And Sony doesn't plan on using 50GB BDs, either. I foresee many games in the 10-20 GB range for PS3.

The quality of textures and cutscenes can be affected by greater storage, although obviously that's an indirect relationship. Although Americans aren't too into cutscenes, the Japanese are. Many of their games already have tons of cutscenes (going back to the NES), and the greater storage will allow for big RPG/adventure games with HD scenes.

and still.... the quality of the games "does not" rely on the fact that it is on a "BluRay"disc.....yes it might take more then 1 dics on xbox but the programming and compiling is all Binary no matter how you look at it... the comparison from Bluray to HD is that of compression formats...ie....VC1 versus Mpeg2.....Its all up to the promrammers

That's absolutely true, you cannot compare the picture quality from BD to Regular DVD and base your comparison of PS3 to 360 graphics. I suspect some games will be better on the PS3, and some on the 360.

same price but the PS3 premium has some better features, much bigger hard drive, HDMI..... feature wise the prmium 360 +add-on is closer to the cheap PS3 (and even then the PS3 is a bit more feature rich)


not realy. Actualy with the launch of the PS3 in Japan there arer more BD players in customers hands then HD DVD players. the movies haver almost caught up in numberse even with an almost 3m launch difference....

Studios releasing on HD DVD have already needed to compromise and change the intended features….

As for the original topic. I am divided. The idea of two remotes is revolting (then again I intend to use it as a gaming console) but the idea of remotes going Bluetooth is enticing. But like Daniel I assume that there will be an external IR receiver that will be made available soon.
