Hello all,

I'm looking into buying a DVD changer (stacker - what's the correct term anyway?) with a capacity of 300+ disks. It should play all reasonable formats SACD/CD+-RW/DVD+-RW/HDCD and it must have DVI output so that I could hook it up to my amp. Region free is a plus, or at least there must be a way to unlock it if it's locked.

Surprisingly, I ran into a problem of finding one like this in Australia.

I was wondering if anyone can offer advice on which units are actually sold in Australia (Melbourne) and what they think of them?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware of any larger than 6 DVDs in Australia. I'm not sure if this is due to the size of the market or because none on the comercial ones in the US are region free. If you have any luck please post here there are a few of us that are interested.

Yes, that's the problem I'm facing. I hope that I (or someone else) can solve it.

I'll be sure to post if I find anything... The search is on :-)

I don't think I'll be able to find a 300+ disk stacker in Australia :-(

I want to change my current Sony 5 DVD changer to something similar, but with DVI output. Can someone recommend me a 5-6 DVD changer with DVI output that's sold in Australia?

Also, has anyone used those HDMI to DVI adapters? I could look at HDMI players then as well, since I could use an adapter (as long as they don't degrage the quality). My amplifier has 2 DVI inputs, but no HDMI input, that's why I'm looking for DVI.

Thanks in advance :-)

I have a Sony DVP-CX777ES 400 disc player that has been modded for all region PAL.

It works great, had very little use, but unfortunately have to sell it due to other priorities at the moment.

I bought it in the USA, had it modded and personally brought it over.

If you are interested, send your contact details to karmann68@gmail.com

By the way, there isn't a player in the world that will do all that you want with the ability to play Aus region 4 discs. This is the closest you will get, without HDMI/DVI and not too sure about all disc formats supported but definately has SACD, DVD-RW (VR and Video Mode)/-R, DVD+RW, DVD+R Playback, CD-R/CD-RW, MP3 Playback.

No DVD jukeboxes are officially sold in Australia, and probably not even on the grey market.

I am based in Brisbane

Thank you for the reply, karmann.

After giving this whole idea some more thought, I decided not to go down the DVD stacker route, but will rather wait for some company to release a player that will hopefully play both of the new DVD formats (Blu and HD) and get that. I'm not sure if that's technically possible, but I hope so :-)
