Rumors are out that Sony might market the 200 Disc Changer from their Digital Living System. Its been said that they would do it with the launch of the LX2. Has anyone heard more about this? Specifically when this might be. Better yet, does anyone have any info about other PC compatible changers like this?

This setup is already out an available at amazon for $1600 after rebate.

You need to remember that this DVD player does not upscale to HD like the other Sony 400 DVD Megachanger (DVP CX-995).

Also, you need to keep in mind that you are purchasing a MS Media Center PC.

Originally when I first saw this this week I was pretty excited but I checked into it further and saw the shortcoming.

If you don't have a DVD MegaChanger and are looking for a Centralized Digital Media organizer, are not interested in the upconversion to HD (and can swing the cash of course) this would be a solid pick for you.

Was that $1600.00 for the Complete Digital Living System or just the 200 disc Changer? The article I read said the changer would be priced around $600. Either way, you have a point about the lack of upconversion to HD, which I was not aware of.

I do have the Sony DVP CX-985 (No upconversion to HD) so looks like I'll hold out for a while in hopes that something will come along which have both of these features. I expected a lot more feed back on this subject. Is there anyone else looking for a PC compatible Changer with upconversion to HD?

Correct, the $1600 was for the "entire" system.

This system kinda reminds me of the Gateway system that was released some time back.

I would really like to see a complete hardware (no pc) solution for this type of rig.

Take a close look at the changer, it's a powerfile changer. The same one that was used in the Escient Powerplay system.
