You mean Blu-ray. And those are MSRP. Most DVDs have a $29.95 MSRP right now, too. They sell for $20, usually.

Whatever sony is supporting Spiky..im tired of reading about the whole thing..and wont buy either until prices drop so im not stuck with an obsolete player..Beta and Vhs type of thing..for the time being ill be happy with my OPPO ...and in your honest opinion..how much better will this be in comparison to current DVDs?..

Probably much better. There is an obvious difference on my 720p TV between poor DVD, good DVD, poor HDTV, good HDTV. Bluray/HD-DVD should be top of the line HD, 1080p mostly. And recent movies should be done well, just as most recent DVDs are typically good. Perhaps there won't be much benefit for catalog titles, I can see DVD sticking around for older movies for quite some time. I look forward to an affordable 1080p projector in a few years. I won't be running out to purchase the new players this year, I'll wait too.
