Is it just me or is the sound for Madagascar some of the worst on an animated movie release in a long time.

I am getting ready to move my setup so I didn't mind tweaking with the levels. I tried through the entire movie to find where the 5.1 was even working. I might as well have used the speakers built into the TV.

Has anyone else had this same problem?

Haven't watched it yet... was going to rent. Normally I would expect animated films to have fantastic sound (ie. The Incredibles).

Considering my wife commented on the sound, (she could care less if everything worked) either my system is way out of wack or there is something wrong with the movie. I am going to try again tonight and recalibrate the entire system and see if that does anything.

Why don't you try a different movie BEFORE retweaking your setup. The Incredibles or any of the other Pixar flicks would be a suitable test DVD.

I need to set it up as I moved the couch and one of the speakers this weekend.

I will then use Incredibles as a reference then try Madagascar again.

Well, I just watched Madagascar and there really isn't a whole lot going on in the rear channels. There's a few moments with bass, but otherwise it's not really a showcase soundtrack. Better movie than I was expecting though (sort of in the same way as The Emperor's New Groove).

That is the same conclusion that I came to. I put Incredibles in tonight and the sound is there. I guess with a bunch of zoo animals it makes for a dull soundtrack.

Oh, I'm sure they could have made it more active... not sure why they didn't. But I felt that this was a whole lot better than Shark Tale.

Goes to show that if the producers spend some dough on a great sound track the movies will be more popular.

That's one of my favorites though. Noooo Touchy - No Touchy!!!

Sound is very important... which is why I'll never understand folks who have their TV hooked up to a full surround sound system but when then want to watch "normal TV" using the set's built-in speakers.
