Dear all,

I bought the SONY DVP-CX995V last week when I was in a trip to NY by job. It looks great (400 disc), but I was disappointed because here in Brazil the DVDs are region code 4, and the product became with region code 1.

Is it possible to change the region code for codefree?
I kindly appreciate if you tell me a way to do that once 90% of my DVDs are region 4.

Thanks and best regards,
Sue.

I think you are out of luck. It is probably too new to find hacks, but you can try searching for the previous 985 model. I didn't see anything.

Most of the hacks I have seen that open a player up for all regions or to remove the " this function can not be performed at this time" message have been by adding jumpers, a chip and a few components to the main board. I hope in time this is able to be done by the remote or a set of buttons pushed on powerup. But I do not hold my breath till then.....
