I want to copy dvd movies from my hard drive to my Dvd player.
Can anyone recommend a software package?
I also need to know the format that it needs to be downloaded from the Internet as.
I have been struggling with this for 5 days now.

Good God, When Will You People Stop??!!

Go to a forum where they don't mind discussing illegal acts, stop coming here! Just because you found "DVD burn ing" on a search engine doesn't mean this site wants to discuss the theft of copyrighted material.

Hey, take it easy on the new guys on the block. There are supposedly legal sites where you pay to download movies and with the right cables, you can use your computer to play them on your TV. There was an August New York Times Magazine article about it. So, are they wrong????

My problem is that I have a very small laptop & can't make the connection, so I want to burn DVDs for my personal use (most of these movies you rent and can only watch during a 24 hour period, after which they self destruct or something) as I would with music CDs where I've paid for the songs.

So...if I pay for the use right, is it illegal to burn the movie onto a DVD & what kind of software, DVD will work?

Thanks.

I have links near the bottom of that thread. DVD copying is illegal in my country. I imagine what you are discussing is also illegal.

I want a new BMW. My Problem is that I have a very small bank account & can't make the payments. Is it OK if I just go and steal one for my personal use?

If you don't have the equipment to watch downloaded movies on your TV, then don't download them.

How clever. Unfortunately, your analogy's incorrect, but it is so very clever. My question wasn't about money, it was about technology & the law.

Thanks, Spiky. I read your comments on the link you provided. That answered my question. I won't make DVDs & I'll find a way to connect my (rather expensive) small computer to the TV.

You'll have to excuse us for the snide comments. There has been a rash of bootlegger wannabees coming to the forum asking these same questions, posting only once and vanishing when we choose not to aid criminal activity. If your questions are simply for information, good.

Understand. But it is very hard to get information. Even the DVD manufacturer says you can download DVDs--at least they say that on the phone--but I had a sense something was wrong. If it were legal, it wouldn't be this absurdly difficult to figure out how to do it. Thanks again.

With all that, I know nothing about such download sites because, quite frankly, they don't interest me. Most DVDs can be purchased for less than $15, I don't see much need to waste the time downloading and burning. Esp if it is limited-use. We killed DiVX (the first one from Circuit City) and all the other limited-use nonsense.
