i ve just bought a panasonic portable dvd ls5 player... i have a whole collection of backed up dvd movies and i cant play them at all... all movies start to fail after 20 minutes of playback. i use a sony dru 500 a writer and ridata disks... i use dvd shrink and nero 6.0. i have read out there that this player is fully compatible with dvd-r, so im at a loss. please help

Might seem a little obvious, but have you tried the discs on another machine?

Well, why don't you just use the originals if they are "back ups"? LOL...backed up my ass ;0)

I can understand you not wanting to take your originals with you. It's a good idea to take your "backups" with you when using your Panasonic portable while your originals are safely stored at Netflix, ehem, I mean your closet.
Do prerecorded DVDs fail too? if so, you have a defective player. If not, there might be some kind of read cashing incompatibility. Try a different portable in that case.
