What are some good models and What are some good online places for region free players..US and abroad?
I was looking at Malata 520..there seems to be some varied price ranges..220-electronics has for $149 and HKFLix for 329...anyone know why there is such a severe disparity? that doesn't seem logical.

Also, anymore places to find these..thanks.

Malata is the best. I can't explain the price disparity, perhaps 222 is closing them out.

Popular options on the cheap end have been the Philips 727, still available at walmart.com I think, and the Toshiba 3900. I'm not sure if the Tosh is still selling, but there are similar models with the same capability, I believe.

Yes, that's the real issue that many people ignore. The Malatas (and Jaton clone) have the best PAL to NTSC conversion, which is why I recommend them. But for those who don't want to spend that kind of money, there are the other 2 as the 2002-2003 leaders in cheap, all-region, decent PAL to NTSC conversion players. (I say 2002-2003 because these are no longer being made)

I'm planning on getting a 727 to replace a dying player at my house. So I don't know how it compares to my Malata yet, but I'm sure it will satisfy this need.
