Hi just my 2p.
cope are you in Europe or the States?
different regions have different sound formats on them. In Europe because of all the languages that are put on the disc often there isnt room for even a basic dts soundtrack never mind a dts-es version.
I often buy US versions these are often on the web site you mention.
For one example on dts own demo disc there was a dem of Titan AE when this disc was released in the UK it was DD only.

Having said that the listings of for example monster inc on the dts web site say there are both 5.1 and 6.1 versions of monsters in but on the packaging of both it says 5.1

Thanks for your feedback

Unless I'm wrong, you won't get a discrete sixth channel on DD, but you should hear sound from the rear speaker(s), just like DPL "decodes" stereo.

What Reciever are you using... Star Wars 1 was the every first movie to us 6.1 Dolby Digital EX. You might have to put your reciever into Matrix mode to get the EX to show up.

I have a panasonic SA-XR25 the reciever shows what autio source it is getting and what speakers are getting a direct signal. Star Wars and alot of others do show that they are in Dolby Digital EX but only the ones I have listed are showing that the back center speaker is recieving a direct signal. I do get sound out of that speaker when I use the enhanced sound mode. Thanks for your feedback.---cope---

Just to be accurate, SW Ep 1 was the first movie ANNOUNCED to have DD EX. Something else actually came out first.

As we've said before, cope, you need to MANUALLY put your receiver into EX mode for many movies, esp older DVDs. Trust me, both SW films are EX encoded. Please see my post of 1/26/04 above. A "direct" signal implies discrete processing, which is only available with certain DTS DVDs. Nevertheless, EX and ES matrix do have a separate 6th channel that is encoded out of phase in the 4th and 5th channels and is extracted by the same means used to derive the front center channel in Pro Logic II or DTS Neo6 respectively.

OK Spiky What was the first 6.1 movie? I'm sure Mr. Lucas would like to know to?

It seems we are beating a dead horse. I will continue to look for DVDs that I consider to be in 6.1 not just listed to be in Dolby Digital EX or DTS ES

TI,
I may be confusing DD-EX with digital projection. I'll see what I can find.

cope,
YOU are beating a dead horse. So, apparently you are looking for DTS-ES Discrete titles ONLY, correct? See my FIRST reply for how to find these. It really isn't this hard. If you're just looking for the ones with corrected software that works better with your receiver, good luck. Try only looking at titles released mid-2002 or after.
