Any word when (and if) Criterion Collection titles which were previously issued on LaserDisc will be made available on DVD. I refer specifically to the Orson Wells and Alfred Hitchcock films, also "The Producers."

I'm also wondering if Paramount and Fox, newcomers to the genre, will be releasing classics like "Sunset Boulevard" and "All About Eve."

Hard to say - they just seem to be slowly coming out. If they plan on catching up all their older titles, they haven't said.

Paramount seems to be bringing out decent titles, but they've only had a few release waves now - too early for their "classics". Fox seems to be holding back quite a bit, so I wouldn't expect anything great too soon.

I went to Circuit City the other day to buy some stuff and noticed that they have several DVDs that are part of the collection!!

My neighbor baoght a few of these discs recently and like ROBOCOP, they are outstanding.

PS Even at Circuit City those discs aren't cheap ($28-45)

I would suggest mail order/web order as well. I found that it is a lot cheaper than buying from retail stores. Things like reel.com or dvdepress. I have even used 800.com but I have heard some bad things about service. If you are weary about some of these places, a lot of people post to alt.video.dvd about their experiences with these companies you can check there. I only say this because I have had many times when I went into Westcoast and wanted to tell everyone buying DVD's to order them over the web. By the way everyone probably knows this already but the 3 for 1 deal by Warner that Wescoast advertises works for any warner DVD bought anywhere. I saw a few people in Westcoast talking that they should buy here so they can get another for free.

I have several Criterion DVDs: Seven Samurai, The Samurai Trilogy, High and Low and The Wages of Fear. They are all excellent. I think Seven Samurai is temporarily out of print.

Criterion needs to support anamophic widescreen mode with their widescreen DVD releases though. Of the above that's only a problem with High and Low since the others are all 4x3.

I've been trying to get the Criterion Robocop. I have it on order from 800.com and fom Ken Kranes. No ones seems to have it. I know Spinal Tap and The Killer were stopped due to copyright problems, but I didnt hear anything with Robocop. Any idea why Im having problems finding it?
