STRONG GROWTH IN PRE-HOLIDAY DVD PLAYER SALES
10/27/1999
Pre-holiday sales of DVD Players continued to grow for the week ending October 16, 1998. There were 17,992 units sold, a 113 percent increase (+9,544) over 1997’s corresponding weekly figure. Month to date DVD Player sales rose approximately 100 percent (+17,132) over 1997’s corresponding figure of 17,198. This brings year to date DVD Player sales to 590,104 units – 157 percent increase over 1997’s corresponding year to date figure of 230,041.
Pre-holiday sales of Projection TVs have risen for the week ending October 16, 1998. There were 26,892 units sold, a 17 percent increase (+3,874) over 1997’s corresponding weekly figure. Month to date sales were 44,679, a 32 percent increase (+10,743) over 1997’s corresponding figure. Projection TV year to date sales are 768,200, an 18 percent increase (+115,174) over 1997’s corresponding figure.
