First of all, i want to thank you for your great work.

Now, i'd like to answer you if you know which of these codes are "3speed" and "factory".
They are used to unlock more options into the service menu (read the 2nd post at this link to know something more).

I've already found this two codes into MX-700 editor IR database (selecting Samsung TV "HLN617W (00016A)" model) but i don't know how to extract/convert them to pronto or lirc format.

Forgive me for asking this here , but I am new to this .

I have had a Pronto TSU 7000 remote for some time and had previously set it up by learning codes from my various remotes after creating my screens .

I recently bought a Samsung UE46C7000 LED TV which does not have direct input selection buttons on the supplied remote , but I see the hex codes for these functions at the beginning of this thread ( for which I am most grateful ) .

I am not sure how to use these hex codes , but on looking at the Pronto NG software , if I right click on a button I have created , I can select 'button properties' , then 'add IR code' . At the bottom of this window , there is a section for 'custom IR code' .

To use the hex codes , is it just a matter of pasting the code in here , then uploading to the device ? Or am I missing anything ?

I found that 115 starts "connecting" but never stops trying to connect.

121, 140 and 147 all appear to work the same.

I thought that the SMART button could be used to enter SMART, then to leave it, but it won't leave SMART once you've started to move the cursor around. The cleanest way I've seen to rock-solid leave smart is dumb but effective -- hit SOURCE, then about a half second later, hit EXIT.

I haven't used this enough to understand the difference between Social TV/Smart TV Log In and SMART, and my client doesn't need it, so I'm moving on.

I have just bought an UE40ES8000UX and the IR codes don't seem to be the same as listed in this post. For example, Vol down learnt by my Pronto is:

Looks look the sequence is sent twice but I was expecting it to match the codes given for function 11 but as it was different I was reluctant to try the listed codes to see if they worked in case I got stuck in some funny mode.

Any thoughts? Any help much appreciated.

Your learned code decodes, as expected, to NECx2 device 7.7 function 11.  The primary difference to the code posted on page 1 of this thread is your learned code has the signal repeated-- the learn is of two IR signals.

So the posted codes should be fine.

Many thanks for your help. Is there an article somewhere explaining how the Pronto hex codes represent the IR signal? I'd like to understand why the posted code and my learnt code are apparently different but produce the same effect at the IR receiver.

The posted codes do work with my new TV but I'm don't understand the differences between the posted code for function 11 (Volume down) and my learnt code. I can see that the '0' burst pair is one bit different making a slightly shorter off time but I guess this is well within tolerance. You mentioned that the burst sequence is repeated - from my understanding of Barry Gordon's article, the preamble in this case should be 0000 006d 0022 0022 indicating 34 burst pairs in each of the two burst sequences but in fact it is 0000 006d 0044 0000 indicating 68 burst pairs in burst sequence one.

I don't know why your learn ended up as 0044 0000.  But the effect is that this entire learned signal will be sent once, and if your remote tries to repeat it, it will have to send all 68 burst pairs again.  I would have thought that the remote would have recognized that the signal is two duplicate sets of 34 burst pairs.

0022 0022 will allow the remote to send 34 burst pairs, and if the button is held down, additonal sets of 34 burst pairs.

However, it is quite possible that yuor remote will actually send 3 sets of signals, even for a short tap of the button.

The new Smart TVs have a button on the remote to bring up the Smart Hub. The function code for this is 121.

These TVs come with a second remote control - the "Smart Touch Control" but I have been unable to capture any of the IR signals sent except the Power Toggle button. Maybe it's using a new coding system to support the additional functionality e.g. carrying voice commands.

On further investigation, the Smart Touch Control instructions talk about "pairing" so I presume it's talking bluetooth (except for the Power toggle). Samsung seem to have quite a nice system with the Smart Touch Control controlling up to 3 devices: TV, STB and BD. If the devices are Samsung then it just works, if not then there is an "IR Blaster" which converts the bluetooth signals to the appropriate IR codes. Whether this means I can retire my aged Pronto remains to be seen - I suspect not!
