I have had this issue a few times now.

First time Sony TV (don't have model but probably form 2018), AppleTV (current model), and Sonos Arc. All control done with AppleTV remote using CEC. After turning system off, would walk back into room and TV would be on, this would happen constantly. Tried a few things, but updating firmware on Sony TV seemed to have fixed the problem. This issue was from about 2 months ago.

Second time Samsung TV (don't have model but from 2024), AppleTV (current model), and Sonos Arc. Same issue as before, but no firmware for Samsung that would fix the problem. Ended up putting in Crestron Home to get the system working. This was also about 2 months ago.

Third time also Samsung TV (don't have model but from 2023), AppleTV (current model), Sonos Arc. Same problem as before, no firmware update to fix, and Crestron in not in the budget for this home.

Anyone else had this issue and found a fix for it?

Try a CEC blocker in AppleTV.

Then that breaks the setup of him using the AppleTV remote to control the whole system.

Munson, does your company not have any other control system to offer besides Crestron? For those budget jobs?

Is there a cable box in the system? If so, try inserting a CEC blocker here.

Check Apple Home Automation settings?

Home/Away to trigger events

Is anybody else “air playing”?

Are they tuning off Apple TV by holding down power button then selecting turn off. I think if they just press the button once the TV goes off by Apple TV stays on making the TV think it needs to turn on.
