So, I have a client that wants to replace a TV. He wants a new LG Oled, with the Magic Remote. From what I can tell it should work, even though it is partially rf control. Has anyone used LG, with the magic remote connected to a Playbar successfully??

Yes.
Volume should be rf, but there’s some settings you can go through when controlling soundbars and pick one that then turns it to ir then you can learn the commands in.

I did find an option like you say here, but it was a few years old. Ironically, it said to choose Phillips TV code to learn into the the Sonos Playbar. Have you actually done this recently with an LG?

Maybe LG has it in there soundbar menu to make it easy for a homeowner to add a Sonos device? We know that Sonos just learns what it given to work.

I’ve started seeing “Sonos” listed as a manufacturer in TV’s. I haven’t been keeping track of models and brands. I saw this in a new LG yesterday. Maybe Sonos has included a default set of IR codes that a manufacturers’ database has picked up.

Xfinity has had Sonos listed as an audio device for years. I've programmed countless Xfinity remotes to control Sonos playbars. LG has Sonos listed as a controllable audio device. The magic remote controls the playbar with Sonos commands. The playbar does not need to be programmed to accept the command. Sonos codes do exist and they are readily available.

I'm Not an engineer, but I play one on TV. My handle is Tweety but I have nothing to do with the organization of similar name. I just had a really big head as a child so folks called me tweety bird. |
