I haven’t done a system with a cable box in a very long time

Upcoming system, hdmi matrix, RTI control (iR, IP and or RS232 control) central rack.

Customer wants 2 cable boxes. How are most modern cable boxes controlled? I’m guessing no longer using IR? Bluetooth?

I’m unsure what brand of cable boxes the local provider (Optimum, formerly Suddenlink) uses but of course I will find out. I’ll need to go down to their office to ask them what boxes they offer

My concern is that I need to control the boxes with the RTI system from distances up to 75’. Bluetooth can’t do that and RTI remotes don’t do BT anyway.

Any thoughts? (I know, don’t integrate cable boxes)
Chasing Ernie's post count, one useless post at a time.

Easy enough to find out how the specific boxes are controlled- call advanced tech support. Spectrum boxes can use IR or RF, the choice is in the menu.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."
