Hello.
I would like to remotely control my EchoStar 4900 satellite receiver (rented from Telus) using IR and Control4.
My version of the 9400 came with a UHF remote, but I believe there is an IR interface built in it that could be used with Control4.
Can anyone help me verify that the unit I have is ready to receive IR commands, other than buying an IR remote.
Thank you, Trevor

Of the Dish Network receivers I've had over the years. All of them accepted IR without having to change any settings. My Dish Network remote has had its batteries out and stored away for a few years.

My Bell receiver's remote has a tab at the bottom that you pull out & flip over to switch between IR & UHF.

This is what my Telus remote looks like:

Tht tab has UHF Pro on the front side and UHF on the back side. I'm guessing those are the two configurations that my remote has. It does, however, have two "bug eyes" on the top as if it would do IR mode.
If my EchoStar 9400 does have IR capability, where is the receiver located on the front panel? I can not see it anywhere and obviously can't test for it without an IR remote. I need to attach my Control4 flasher to the unit so that my retail programmer can proceed.
Thank you all, Trevor

So on my Dish Hopper 3, which appears to the same as your Echostar 4900. The IR sensor is near dead center of the entire face. An inch or so to the right of the door.
And there is a thread on here, for some reason I can see the results in google search but can not open it. That states that Echostar 4900 uses Dish Network's IR codes. Which you can find in the library here.
