Have a large Crestron job coming up with approx. 6 - 7 control processors, switchers and amplifiers. How do you calculate the size of
UPS needed for such a system? The generator kicks in after 4 minutes

Total load & runtime needed. Most UPS vendors have calculators.

Not Panamax as theirs will not charge on gen power, and will just become a overpriced boat anchor.

Not even if the generator outputs pure sine wave?

Still no issue with Panamax, as the UPS will handle the 4 minutes.
I would add the total loads, add 20%, and run for 15 minutes or 30 minutes.
Don't cheap out on the UPS.

My personal experience with Panamax wasn't good.

That large and heavy 1500 was basically useless as while it would power the rack for a bit, when the gen was running, it wouldn't charge, so the beeping went on and on until the battery died.

I replaced it with three cheap Minute Man units and they worked perfectly, powered all the rack and a line to the display, AND charged from the gen set.

Batteries seemed to last just as long as the offending Panamax, which ended up in the scrap metal pile.

Oof!
That's going to set you back at least $15-20K just in the equipment - not counting accessories, wire & labor, electrician (unless you're a licensed electrician).

Is this all in one location?
How many circuits (and size) are there now?
Is 240VAC available or can be pulled?

I rarely use the UPS on amps, which saves a lot on UPS costs. If you have smart amps then that might not be an option. Look at your equipment and decide what needs a UPS and what does not.

That's 7500VA for all equipment, but what's the power use for the amps in real time? Did you use the ratings on the equipment labels?

I would measure the power used by each device (I have a Kill A Watt) and base the UPS on that, rather than a max use estimate. Not that I would want the system to draw too much, but in reality, you're not trying to power motors and pumps that are harder to feed.
