…you ain’t got 14-1/2”?  Well, I had exactly 14” on Friday, well that would be a “no”.

Is there a 10x20 box, or 12x20 box??

Often retro over a fireplace you just don’t get lucky.

Are these 2x4 (or whatever size) extending from floor to ceiling? If not, it's not actually structural. Why do they need to be full-width and why can't you have someone frame an opening that it fits? Or, ask the contractor if you can re-frame/modify it?

If you have an oscillating tool, you could remove 1/2"-3/4" from the face of one piece and if necessary, have it checked. It's not hard to do. Otherwise, have one piece moved to the side- the drywallers know how to deal with this and they shouldn't put a joint over an opening, anyway.

It takes a strong lack of understanding of construction and installation to make a connection box just the slightest bit wider than the standard stud spacing of 99% of construction practices across more than an entire continent.

Samsung should be ashamed.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Sizing it to the EXACT maximum spacing between two standard studs? Yeah, brilliant...

It would fit if the studs were placed normally, but as you know, it does not always happen. There is no contractor, this is a retro job. I can hack up the 2 x 4 if I want, I just do not want to. That's why I wondered if somebody had an alternative box that is still tall.

That would indeed work.
But for $374 retail, F^ that!
Future Automation has really good stuff. But their pricing sometimes is just ridiculous. Must be a Brexit thing.

Samsung should be ashamed.

That whole thing should have been abandoned at the beginning- it should be 8" x 8", 2" thick and the freaking cable should have round plugs.

At least they finally came out with an in-wall rated cable, but the plugs are huge! Absolutely ridiculous! They recommend 2" conduit for the cable.

I talked to them yesterday.  They read your comment, and indeed are feeling quite ashamed. They don’t know what to do next, possibly cease production.

Well, is there someone they could talk to?

I’ve used the media panel from legrand. It’s just big enough to fit the one connect and a slim balun but not much else. You can probably fit a Roku stick or fire stick but not an Apple TV.

Also the back box from ECD. That ones a little bigger so you can get a full size Roku or Apple TV in there. I’ve squeezed a xfinity dvr in it before and it looked fine.
