Customer is building a house and wants a driveway sensor to alert him when someone comes down the driveway. The house is approximately 900 feet from the road and he is asking for a solution that would alert him in his phone. I would imagine this would require fibre. What solutions are out there for something like this?

I have used this before, not sure how far you can go with it. It is what a lot of the security system installers use.

[Link: jmac.com]

We had a Crestron system in the house and it would send an email or a text message when someone entered the driveway. We put in two so we would know if the car was entering or exiting and only sent on exit.

This could get quite expensive for a stand alone system. You could also try a Ring camera with motion alerts turned on and positioned correctly. May get false alerts from animals/trees. You could need fiber for that distance unless you could get wireless coverage.

I have used this with good success https://cartell.com/products/driveway-alarm/.  Have a camera pointed at the sensor location and when the sensor is triggered it triggers the input on the recorder to take pictures and sends an email with the pics to the customer.  The sensor is also tied into the Crestron system and also chimes the touch panels and mutes the audio zones.

Only issue I have had is the recorder stopped sending emails but this was a firmware issue on the recorder and nothing to do with the sensor itself.

YoLink outdoor motion sensor YS7805-UC uses LoRa low frequency wireless technology with 1000 foot range.

Dakota?

I don't believe Dakota makes a wired option anymore and wouldn't trust a wireless option that far especially where GMAN is located, winters would annihilate batteries

Ive used the laser, solor option from Dakota. It triggers at the hub and the control system executes macros, ie, push, speaker announcement, TV text, etc. Been pretty flawless!

That said, no brutal winters here (well, the occasional ice storm from hell).
