I have the Universal Remote Control RFX-250 Remote Antenna.The RF light is staying on constantly, and I can't figure out where this antenna is receiving RF from. I have removed the batteries from every Universal remote mx-350 I have, and the RF receive light still stays on. Some commands I send via RF from my MX-350 remotes to my three ir receivers in the basement do get through, but obviously the rogue RF the antenna is receiving is causing a big problem. There are emitters in the system that are staying on constantly due to this rogue RF. I have powered down every piece of equipment in the system including the Universal Remote Control RFX-250 Remote Antenna, but when I power the system back up I still keep receiving the rogue RF. This problem did not exist 24 hours ago. Any ideas on what is causing this rogue RF? Thanks for the help.

I wouldn’t rule out hardware failure. If you physically relocate the unit to a more remote area, do you still seem to have RF activity?

What type of lighting do you have? CFLs were notorious for this as well as others.

I see I was not clear here. I was questioning whether "this" RF is the actual condition, when it could be "these" RFs, meaning more than one is causing the problem.

Is this actually true? Could there be two RF sources, and the emitters stay on when one or both sources are on? If so, you've got to be sure your testing isolates the RF source(s) to one at a time.

Have you tried a different frequency on the remote and the receiver?

I've noticed some random RF issues with my RFX250 systems.

1) Try moving it. I've noticed it can become very sensitive to being close to some electronics - sometimes for seemingly no reason.
2) Try unplugging power specifically to the antenna. Often this resets the issue, for whatever reason.
3) Try another day. Stupid as it sounds, I seem to have some days where it's just glitchy as hell, and then the next day all is fine again.

Otherwise, it could have failed.

Have you changed any HDMI cables in the area?

If the light is ALWAYS on and doesn't waver no matter where you move the antenna and associated cable, 3 things:

1 - Bad RF brain...replace it.

2 - Before you do #1, make sure the antenna cable didn't get plugged into the wrong jack on the base station. If it plugged into the OUT instead of the IN on the base station, you can get a constant red light.

3 - After you do #2 and before #1, swap the mono cable.

Can someone recollect the URC antenna problem from some time like the 90s, when a plain old electrical connection to the MRF250 gave unpredictable results?

I can remember plenty of tumorish 2005-2008 Scientific Atlanta boxes paired with an MRF300 or MRF250 that made me want to leave the industry.

Any chance your MRF/RFX setup is set to channel 0?

If so, a neighbor's remote could be jamming you.

As mentioned above, set the base station to different channels to see if the ghosts go away.

Also... A ferrite filter on the antenna was a solution mentioned in the past for URC MRF issues.

Any chance of relocating the antler? I suppose that one is screwed on and it's not an SMA antenna, right?

If anything is set up to use CEC, unplug the HDMI cables and see if it stops.

I had a similar issue that was intermittent. Every time I went there it worked fine. After several weeks we found a Lurton Homeworks interactive wired dimmer that was going bad and would emit enough RF to make all the URC remotes in the house stop working.

Found this because one day it was acting up when we were there. Started shutting off breakers in the house to pin point the issue. Replaced the dimmer and problems went away.
