Anyone having HDMI handshake issues with Sony TVs and newer receivers lately? To make a long story medium-length...
2+ years ago. VERY infrequent HDMI issues with Yamaha receivers and any form of smart device and TV. Using Binary B6 HDMIs. HDMI for us was rarely if ever a problem.
These days...quite a number of HDMI issues with newer Marantz and now new Yamaha receivers. The issues are typically the static screen when going to Rokus, Sony BD players, etc. If we go to a source that isn't having the problem (ex: cable box), the handshake is made and the static is then gone on the problematic source if we go back to it.
As receiver stock has been so low over the last two years, we don't have as many installs under our belt like we normally would in 18-24 months with a new line. With the newer Yamaha/Marantz receivers, you need to set the HDCP to 1.4, 2.2, etc. instead of leaving it on Auto but this hasn't seemed to have help with this particular problem. We have changed resolutions on the devices when possible and this also doesn't seem to help.
We think we are seeing this more with Sony TVs than others but are still trying to determine this. Anyone else seeing like experiences?
Thanks in advance

I recently had a Sony TV turn ON if I gave a TV power commend to a Samsung TV in another room. The solution was to insert a CEC blocker in all inputs to the SONY. There was a shared DVD player and older Yamaha receiver that was not connected to the Sony. The Samsung Power command would not turn OFF the Sony.
This system had been working fine for many months, then developed this annoying quirk.

Are these 8K AVR's? If so... the issue is much like what we saw when when 4k/HDR was introduced, it is the inability to quickly resolve which format to use. Often a Hot Plug Reset will fix this, (easy test) turn system on with HDMI cable detached, then plug in cable, if system now works correctly instal our AIO2 between the AVR and the display (IMPORTANT NOTE: AIO2 must be triggered by contact closure, if you do not have a control system on the job use our CS-IRKITCCUS). Life in HDMI land…

The problem, which is the difficulty to swiftly decide which format to employ, is quite similar to what we observed when 4k/HDR was released.

Xfinity to 6 year old Yamaha AVR to 4k Samsung Black screen or “no signal” Takes 5 min of turning system off/on and then it will work all evening. Do you suppose the hot plug reset magic box will fix this? Secondary question, I have accumulated some of your magic devices in my truck. Would any of these have any chance of helping? HDMI DAD HDM ACVS HDM JR Thanks!

Do you suppose the hot plug reset magic box will fix this? Maybe, a simple test to determine if the AIO2 may help with the Hot Plug is unplug the HDMI cable and then Replug it. If that speeds up the process, then yes. I recommend that anytime the TV is off Hot Plug should also be off. Secondary question, I have accumulated some of your magic devices in my truck. Yes. HDMI DAD This is a great diagnostic tool, it can tell me a lot about what’s going on. HDM ACVS I do not think that this will help in this case. HDM JR My go to repair tool, it does what the DAD does but without the diagnostic functions. Thanks!

Thank you!
Does the HDM JR have potential to fix this “no signal” issue?

Does the HDM JR have potential to fix this “no signal” issue? Yes, but I do think that the AIO2 may be what’s needed.
