Sony XBR55A1E will turn itself off while watching. Power button on remote will turn tv back on but it reboots/displays sony logo. I did a factory reset, ensured updated firmware. Client reports it happens once, sometimes twice a day. Anyone see similar behavior with this model or any other Sony or Android TV?

We haven't seen problems with the A1 but yes...see thread here.

One of our guys called Sony and was told that there was a firmware update that caused these issues to start happening. We talked to another Sony guy that didn't know anything about it but I believe it as we never saw these problems before and we've experienced it now with multiple sets.

We did go out to one house with problems, did a factory reset and made sure these settings were in place. Everything worked afterward (so far at least). This is from Sony's tech guy.

Press the HOME button.
The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
Select Timers → Sleep timer → Off.
Select Apps → Timers → Sleep timer → Off.
Set Idle TV standby to Off.

Note: Depending on the model, the Auto shut-off function may also need to be turned off.

Press the HOME button.
Select Settings.
The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
Select Device Preferences → Power → Idle TV standby → Off.
Select BRAVIA settings → Eco → Idle TV standby → Off.
Select Power → Eco → Idle TV standby → Off.
Set Auto shut-off to Off.

Press the HOME button.
Select Settings.
Select BRAVIA settings → Eco → Auto shut-off → Off.

Have you called Sony San Diego for tech support?

My 65XBR850C was doing the same thing after the last firmware update. I was told to do factory reset (hold power and channel up while plugging in) and that seemed to do the trick. The random resets stopped although it did it again last weekend, first time in a while.

Sony suggested to me that Android OS TVs need to be signed into a google account in order to get proper updates for the apps. This is above and beyond the firmware updates and according to Sony everything from Netflix and Prime to input selections and volume control are all considered apps.

^^This. All apps will update in the background. This is not the same as normal Android updates either.
