Does anyone have experience with Samsung UN55TU8000FXZA and discrete power commands? I'm stuck with installing and updating the control system for this thing and it's installed in a weekly rental. Client went against my recommendation and this model has no RS-232 control path. There is a brief window of time on Saturday (between tenants) for me to work with the system. It's an RTI control system, but I can easily work with Pronto codes.
We are replacing a Pioneer plasma (that died) with this fine feathered fighter.
Thanks

You could try all the buttons on the remote to see if any that are not power toggles will turn on the TV. If there is one, you could perhaps build a short Power On macro using it.

Thanks Most of Samsungs line hasn't changed their power commands in a long time. Pretty sure that any power on/off command you have in your database will work

this could be one of those black friday special tvs that are stripped of any discrete commands.
if you have the capability to do RS232, then my guess is you have the capability to add a sensor to determine the power state of the TV and send power toggles accordingly.
if there are no discrete inputs, typically sending channel up or down commands will switch a samsung to the tuner, then you could toggle with the source toggle command.

I suppose that I could sense 5V from the USB port -- if it is switched. This would take some time to setup, time that I don't have -- assuming that I have a couple spare conductors back to the processor in the rack that I can dig out. Friendly IR codes would be much more practical.

Friendly IR codes would be much more practical. if typical samsung codes aren't working, then the only thing I can think of to try would be a firmware update. if that doesn't help, you have a toggle only TV.

"TU" sounds like Sam's type model. It bet it's a toggle. With RTI, standard issue codes or gonna have to flag it.

Yeah, this used to be a great solution because you could very simply build a macro that was CH+ plus however many INPUT commands you needed to get to the right input. But Samsung is the company that, some time in the later 90s, dropped that in favor of showing THIS FUNCTION IS NOT AVAILABLE when you hit CH+ or minus when you were on a non-tuner input. (I always thought some bright young engineer looked at the CH+ switching to the tuner and said "what's that for? That's not necessary! We'll take that out!" Frankly, I'm surprised if they ever put it back in.

I could get lucky and CEC will bail me out, but I’m not holding my breath. There’s a receiver, Comcast box, Samsung Blu-ray player, and PS-4 in the system.
Imagine the contorted TV power macro that will first select the Blu-ray player, power up the player, (which might start the TV), then move on to other sources and hope that the abandoned Blu-ray player will not force a shutdown.
I’ve been through the contorted shutdown of this sort of mess. I like to shut down the TV first and mute the receiver. This will make the operator think that the system has immediately shut OFF, even though there are a bunch of other commands yet to be issued that may cause odd status screens to flash by on the TV if it was ON.(Mute is usually faster response than receiver power down) Unfortunately, near the end of the sequence the cable box figures out that the TV is OFF and will issue a TV power CEC command. A second TV power OFF command will shut this down.

No reason standard codes won’t work. Standard model, available to distribution.
URC code 656 all day. RTI must have something.

TU8000 series supports discrete IR. 7000Sereis does not.

Thanks. Due to some unexpected complications and equipment failures I ran out of time and couldn't get to integrating the TV with the control system, but at least the room operates with the native remotes and cable box. CEC sort of helps.

That might be the longest model number I have ever seen
