Whats a decent dolby atmos/dts processor/preamp say under $5k. would like 9.1.6 minimum. i do not want a receiver. and i have plenty of ADA amp channels available

also what is a decent 4k projector that has ability to memory zoom/focus for 16x9 and 2.35:1 without having to buy anamorphic lens. id say $5k retail is my budget.

just bought a new house, and starting to build out the media room.

thanks

Ed will be known as the Tiger Woods of the integration business, followed closely with the renaming of his company to "Hotties A/V". The tag line will be "We like big racks and tight holes"...

Not sure if it fits the budget, but AudioControl just updated their theater processors: Maestro X9 / X7 models. Features include: HDMI 2.0, eARC, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, HDR10, Dolby Vision, Dirac Live calibration, Roon ready. Haven't gotten to test one yet; hoping to.

From the mass-market side, the Marantz AV7705 and AV8805 are fairly well-regarded. Have used the 7705 and it does alright.

No question that Dirac outperforms Audyssey though.

Projector JVC DLA-NX5 (AKA RS1000)
The only piece I can think of in that price range that does 9.1.6 is the Marantz 8805. Emotiva also has some processors with Dirac but have been reported to be buggy according to users. I have used the Marantz without a problem and they will be offering an HDMI 2.1 upgrade for it. so somewhat future proofs it until HDMI comes out with their next version in about 6 months:-)

Be aware that the update of the Marantz to HDMI 2.1 will only give you 1 x HDMI input and 1 x HDMI output... and even then it will be at a fairly sizeable cost.

If you're looking to get a high end AVR right now, wait. HDMI 2.1 will do two things:
1 - Bring down the cost of older HDMI 2.0b AVR's.
2 - Give you HDMI 2.1 benefits (quick media switching / VRR etc).
This industry is not getting cheaper and cheaper, we're simply convincing ourselves that we have to push the cheapest option to customers.
