Hey everyone.

I've had a couple of requests to quote a system for board association meetings.

The typical setup is:
Sound reinforcement to a room of 20-50 attendees that need to hear the in-room discussions, as well as the video or audio conference feed. "Go to meeting" seems to be a normal connection source.

Can anyone suggest a system that has worked?

Saw a bunch of table top microphone systems at the last Infocomm in Orlando. Hoping there are others here that specialize in that segment of the industry to offer suggestions.
TIA

If it’s for an HOA, walk away. The headaches won’t be worth it.

I would contact a "favorite supplier" and have them help you with the electronics. As for sound treatment you need to know their budget for that. They might have money for thicker drywall or two layers of drywall or dynamat or full blown room engineering.

This could possibly be the only thing worse than a church committee....

Yep. At least with a church committee, most of the people like each other. Dealing with an HOA, he’s going to have 50 bosses and they all hate each other and disagree out of principle

True. Also, with these associations, no one will know how to run anything after the demonstration except maintenance and the office manager. In other words. no one will be able to properly run it after I'm gone.

Sounds like they want a USB based, VC system. How big is the room?

Usually we provide a thin client PC (to run whatever VC platform), bluetooth keyboard/mouse and then pair cameras and audio to suit for room size.

Larger rooms, take a look at Nureva, at least for the microphones. They can be speakers as well.

As for voice reinforcement, wireless mic with some sort of DSP is still your bet bet.

USB 3.0 is still a pain to extend without spending thousands. More and more products are 3.0 only and not backwards compatible, especially cameras. So if you're looking for easy USB extension with plenty of options, stick to 2.0 devices.

My favorite supplier can help, but a conversation is needed so that you get the right thing.

We offer Vaddio, Audix, Shure, BSS, QSC Qsys (you must be certified to purchase), JBL Pro, Crown, and more.

You'd think so, huh? Not necessarily true.

At a recent memorial for a minister who lived into his 90s (meaning there were many ministers present), the biggest laugh came from quoting the minister, who regularly said "don't let those church people kill you."

Yes, it's difficult to work with churches. But churches supposedly have a unifying ideal, the basis of their religion.

Dealing with an HOA, he’s going to have 50 bosses and they all hate each other and disagree out of principle.

Worse yet, the HOA does not have an ideal to try to live up to.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Minimum, talk to Fred. Think of acoustics, feedback, equalization... this ain’t your family room setup.

I have a commercial installer friend I’ve brought in on things like this. He thinks of issues and has solutions I would not even have thought of.

Two options, been to both scenarios here (church/hoa)
1. Walk the fuss away!
2. Talk to your favorite supplier (He has bailed my ass out a couple times).
Ok a third, run dont walk!
