i just saw this, someone please ban Mr Tristan. He has no business being on a forum with things related to music and or sound!!!!!!!!!! Neil Peart forever!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone comparing to someone in the last 20 years is stupid. it is like people trying to compare Michael and Lebron, you just cant do it. It is impossible!! Neil was one of the best drummers that ever lived and Rush had a sound that definitely changed the landscape. A sound they stayed true to. Nothing worse than a band evolving into to shit music.
I'll be honest, I just can't stand Rush. But I've just been reminded by this thread that everyone has different musical tastes, probably related to the generation we grew up with. One of my favourite bands is Radiohead. They've been revolutionary and have evolved greatly over the years. My kids would say they are crap and I should be listening to Drake.... One thing for sure, Canadians rule when it comes to music! (or we just make crappy music that the world mistakes for being good)
A lot of people don't even realize the these are Canadian:
Rush Justin Beiber Drake Neil Young The Weekend Celine Dione Shania Twain Brian Adams Leonard Cohen David Foster Joni Mitchell Allessia Cara Shawn Mendes Alanis Morrisette Paul Anka The Minipop Kids (my son Carter is in this!)
The list goes on and on....

That's what your country of 33 million has done for music.
This is what Detroit, a city of less than 1 million people has contributed.
Stevie Wonder Marvin Gaye The Temptations Aretha Franklin Al Greene Wilson Pickett Smokey Robinson Bob Seger Ted Nugent MC5 Eminem Diana Ross and all of the Supremes Bill Haley & The Comets Anthony Kiedis (Chili Peppers) Iggy Pop Alice Cooper Madonna Kid Rock Grand Funk Railroad Greta Van Fleet The Romantics The Raconteurs Jack White Glenn Frye (The Eagles)

You left a few off, although some on the list could be considered a bit of a stretch to call them "Detroit" musicians/groups.
Doug Fieger Dick Wagner Jackie Wilson Suzi Quatro Martha and the Vandellas Della Reese Mary Wells Rare Earth Fred Smith Sonny Bono Gladys Knight Aaliyah Don Was George Clinton Bootsy Collins Mitch Ryder Marshall Crenshaw Anita Baker John Lee Hooker
and many, many more.
BTW, Ted Nugent is a draft-dodging a-hole who can't play the guitar worth sh!t

Maybe, but he can gut and skin a deer like nobody’s business. Let’s see Beiber try that

Alright, now we know how Americans feel about us Canadians. They claim our musicians and hockey players as their own, drink our lake water to nurture Detroit artists, use our websites to piss on us and steal our lumber to produce the finest guitars. Daniel Tonks, I think you should ban them and make this a Canadian only forum. Time for us to stop being so polite and proceed with conquering the world.

YOUR lakes?
Lumber? OK, more Sitka Spruce grows in Canada, but Adirondak Spruce is roughly an even split between US and Canada. Not sure where most of the Maple for guitars comes from, but it could easily be US-sourced. Most of the other wood species used for guitars comes from outside of North America.
Musicians and hockey players go to where the money is.

My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."
The Beatles were together for a grand total of seven years.
According to Wikipedia, but this is not a direct quote,
After mucking about with their name for a few months early in 1959, they became The Beatles in mid-August 1959.
Their last album was Let It Be, from May 8, 1970.
Yup. Seven years.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything. "The biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place." -- G. “Bernie” Shaw
