Hi All:

I have an Araknis AN-310-RT-4L2W on the latest firmware (1.0.40) that keeps losing its connection to the web. The overall network is composted of the router, 3 AN-210-SW-24-POE (firmware 1.2.00--latest), 1 AN-700-AP-I-AC (firmware 2.0.02--latest) and 1 AN-700-AP-O-AC (firmware 2.0.00--latest).

We are having an issue where the network will gradually slow down and then it'll just cutoff connection to the web.

What I just noticed while writing this is that even the devices that are working off of local ethernet stop working. I've also called Cox (ISP) to confirm up time and signal to the modem when we have the issue and they confirm no down-time on the modem end.

I've swapped the AN-310 with the restaurants previous router (Netgear) and things seem to work fine. This in my opinion eliminates the APs and switches from the equation leaving just the AN-310.

Anyone have similar issues? I think I'm going to have the AN-310 replaced Monday but I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas that could help in the mean time.

Thanks in advance,
Ali H.

I had something similar happen and when I read the error log in the router I kept seeing a message over and over about ports trying to be opened by some IP address. That IP address ended up being a wireless camera the customer bought and put on the network. I disabled the UPNP setting in the camera, the messages went away and the router stabilized. I'm not a super strong IT guy, so I'm not sure if that was the right way to approach it, but it worked.

Just to provide an update--I switched back to their old router and everything is working fine. I called Snap and they overnight shipped a replacement. No resolution was given. I have a feeling it was just a bad part.

Thanks all.

Unlike Ed, every Araknis router I ever installed had issues. They were all weird and different issues. Examples include:
1) Web browsers taking forever to load but everything else and speed tests were fine (tested across 6 different computers over a week's time and putting a different router in would fix the issue).
2) Had one that would just randomly lose connectivity every week or two and had to be rebooted.
3) Had one that the setting would not hold in the router.
And 2 other ones that were a few years ago, that I can't specifically remember the quarky issues they had.
In other words, out of the 5 routers I tested and some customers got, not a one of them really worked 100% right.
And I dare say - the nature of some of these issues would lead me to believe other customers or even dealers who don't take the time and really care (just install, grab the check, and move on), might not notice the issues.

This and the crappy overpriced WAPs they sell - I wouldn't touch Araknis ever again. The 3 Araknis network switches I have installed have never given me problems. But its a switch, what can go wrong (I have read some people have problems with them thou).
---I'll end with this, don't want to get into a long rant and off topic on other product categories---

Switches are fine. Everything else is garbage though.

I had a similar issue, and tech support changed some DNS settings. There will probably be a firmware update shorty to address it. This was only on one router. I don't have many out there ( maybe 5) and only one needed the change.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

Do you care to elaborate on the setting you use for the WAP's? Do you just punch in the SSID and password on OVRC and let it rip?

Or do you go into each WAP and configure? Or maybe you're just using the routers and not the AP's.

I experienced such pain trying to get clean hand-offs on a retrofit job I did, that I ran from Araknis and never looked back (just the access points). Obviously someone must know something that I don't because so many use them exclusively.

The recommended separate ssid for 2.4 and 5
Turn off band steering. I have zero issues on several networks.

Running into similar issue as OP. Brand new router(newest version)and updated firmware worked well for about 2 weeks. Then all of the sudden it has stopped working. I can access it remotely via OVRC, ping devices on the LAN, connect to devices on the LAN, but none of the LAN devices can connect to the outside world. Contacted tech support and they suggested factory default. Defaulted router and it worked fine for 18 hours now my client is calling me and telling me there's a intermittent connection. Devices wil connect then drop offline. WTF

It sounds like you have it covered but if it happens again: The cable modem might be at this address and you can look at the cable modem log (and connection info) to sometimes get a hint as to what's going on:

Thing is locked up now and I can't access it remotely after trying to change DHCP scheme. Now it's bricked and I need to go onsite tomorrow and bring a replacement. Ugh
