I thought we had decided that he should use assigned ports-why are you bringing connecting blocks into this?

You know how some people are- they just don't want to see a little bump. (not that he gave us a lot of info to go by.....)

Assigned ports on what? an MRF-350? isnt that just a glorified RF receiver with a routed connecting block?

Call it whatever you want- it's the solution to his problem.

By 'if everything had them', I meant IR input jacks, not assignable IR ports. That way, we wouldn't even need to deal with emitters.

never gonna happen. especially now that IP control is so common.

My point is just that IR Input jacks were never the solution to his issue at all. the ability to route the commands to the proper device was.

Open the device casing and stick the dang emitter inside. Interference issues solved.

I understand that routing solves most of these problems, but in some rooms, reflections and proximity can allow commands form one TV to affect the other. Obviously, it's our job to prevent this, but we gave him plenty to work with early in the thread- IR port assignments, emitter covers/naked emitters, etc.

As Impaqt says. One thing that will work, but that I really dislike, is an emitter on the front of a TV. It's not hard to keep that from spitting IR all over the place, but it looks ugly.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

And that's the reason I and at least one other suggested installing the emitters inside- I mentioned naked emitters and you would never see these unless to were very close and knew where they were located.

I've forgotten exactly what I did there. I think I saw the post from leoadam, clicked "quote," then added those silly sentences. That doesn't explain why the original post isn't in this thread, though!

Now that I've thought about it for a couple of seconds, I think I know what happened. Someone must have been maintaining the site, saw the exchange between leoadam and myself, went to disable leoadams' account, and disabled my account by mistake. I pointed out to Daniel that my account had been disabled and he fixed it. Then at some point leoadams' account got disabled. That would explain why leoadams' post does not exist now, and would also explain why, for a few brief shining moments, I saw the post you quoted in Post 24 of this thread.

It's just a guess.
