I've been using OvrC for WattBoxes from day one. Like most of know there are usually (always?) bumps in the road for new products in this industry, WattBox was no exception. But they've been constantly making advances and fixing issues that have come up. They've stood behind with advanced replacements but as we know it still costs us time/ money to replace the units. Not sure what they could do to help offset this cost? Product credit?
That being said, I can't tell you how many times the WattBox has helped with the need not to drive across town to reboot a device, etc. This is why I still keep using them, on every installation.
Sorry, I'm getting sidetracked. My main reason for this post was to see who's been using the Araknis line for networks (router, waps, switches, cameras,etc.). What have your experiences been, pros and cons? Including pricing, options versus other lines. Is it worth the options you may get? I've been using Unfi with either AWS or cloud keys for remote access.
I recently installed the new entry level 110 router with wifi built in. I was pleasantly surprised on how easy it was to set up, make mac reservations, etc. Though I was not impressed with the wifi range. It was a small condo and I was able to centrally locate the router. Unfortunately it didn't cover well in the MBR. I so wish I could just add another wap to this router but Snap said no. I wish they would make a combo router that had the ability to add at least one wap. I know this industry doesn't like "combo" units but I think they have a place in small jobs with tight budgets. Snap are you listening 👂
I really like the one app/ dashboard for a job. Usually I have to jump between Unifi and OvrC to reset a device and check the system. A single app is really nice. For those that are using it a fair amount, I see icons that I'm not sure what they're for. Let me know how much information you can get from the app and how it's helped you out.
TIA for any responses as I'm considering switching over from Unifi.

We’ve been using araknis network gear for a few years now and have no complaints. OVRC has kept us from rolling a truck many times. As for price, we just put it in and don’t really give clients an option. If your networking skills are good, you can do all of this without OVRC with better gear and for less cost. But for us, Araknis/OVRC is the right option.

We also use Wattbox and LUMA cameras for the same reason.

I pretty much exclusively use Araknis network gear now. The new routers with OVRC Pro built in are even better. There are some "business class" features missing, like landing page and some advanced filtering, but other than that, bullet proof, and as stated above, OVRC keeps my truck in the driveway or at new jobs.

No idea. I’ll get back to you on that in a couple weeks. On the 15th I start with a shop that does all pakedge

I called Snap and they said I couldn't. I didn't ask why but I assumed there was a reason why I couldn't. I'm pretty sure the router couldn't control it within its gui.
Have you added a wap to the 110 wifi router?

Sounds like there was a communication breakdown somewhere. Only problem I could see is the WAPs are POE and would need a power source.

I think it has something to do with the handoffs. I think the router with the built in wifi can't do it like a couple of waps can.

We only use Araknis and have since it came out. No major issues at all. Are there things you cant do with Araknis that you cant do with other products? Some say that is the case but there is nothing I have ever needed done that I have not been able to do. So, its a good fit for us.

Same with OvrC. Have seen lots of debates on it vs. other monitoring options. Again, it does what we need it to do. Having access via one site, one platform is a huge value.

We went the Unifi/AWS route years ago. Never again. Ripped them all out and replaced. Talk about a nightmare to manage. Not that it is bad, but all the hoop jumping to manage it far outweighed any advantages it had. Come to think of it, there were no advantages lol.

Ive used on 110 router. Didnt care for the 20 seconds it takes to save ANYTHING, even the tiniest of changes. We will stick with the 310, even on the smallest of jobs. By the time you add OvrC to a 110 you are at the price or more of a 300 series anyway. Have never used built-in wifi model. And wont, its not how we roll.

I've used Araknis here and there. I really appreciate Snaps efforts to make things like OVRC easy to use.

My nit-picky gripes are:

The outdoor WAP is like a giant monolith compared to others, and has to supposedly be angled down if mounted up high - dumb.

I wanted to use a wap as a wireless bridge and failed miserably. Even snaps tech support couldn't make it work after an hour on the phone.

I wish they had an easy to set up repeater.

For some smaller jobs, something like Eero sets up WAY faster and still gives remote management that works fine for small jobs.

I like OvrC and watt box. I’ve used the wraps and router and other than it being part of ovrc i don’t like them and no longer touch them.
Snap tech support tries really hard to get things right but the network gear is weak overall and overpriced.
I’ll stick to my mikrotik and ruckus.

We just started on the 110 router and think it is a good option. We had 1 bad unit out of 3, but hopefully that was a freak thing and not a sign of things to come.

I like the OVRC but don't like how long it takes when logged in to ovrc.com

We are currently using the Grandstream GWN7610 waps with the router and they operate very similar to the Ruckus units but I would like to use the Ruckus ones in a larger job when I possibly need to add a mesh unit or someone who has the money since they are expensive and harder to come by in Canada.

I just did a job with all Snap gear and I'm pretty impressed with their overall solution. In terms of networking, I have a 310 router, 2 210 switches, a POE powered switch (can't remember series), an indoor WAP and an outdoor WAP. Pricing is pretty good in comparison to Pakedge. Everything worked really well. I'm having issues setting up the indoor WAP on Ovrc, though. I got it added after a few attempts but now I can't access it through Ovrc. Going to call tech support tomorrow.

Overall, a good solution. I do like the Pakedge interface more, but having everything in one platform is definitely nice.

Check all your DNS settings as well as all the other IP settings. That fixed this issue once for me.
