I have a bid that I'm working on and the client needs content filtering. I was testing the OvrC pro and it doesn't seem to do the job. what other router or apps should I look at?

Hey there,

The content filtering piece of OvrC/Araknis is directly integrated into our Araknis router.

That goes for our now legacy 300 series router as well as our new x10 line of routers (110, upcoming 310, etc.).

The OvrC/Araknis version of content filtering is using a pre-defined list that updates similar to what you would see from Fortinet to block websites in the associated categories. The next phase/plan of this feature is to make it customizable globally and per user (ETA is TBD).

OvrC Pro is "not" needed for the content filtering feature to work.

Let me know if anyone has any other questions/feedback on these features.

Hey Everyone,

Sorry to revive an old thread but want to give a quick update. We released our first FW update for the 110 routers on OvrC earlier this week. This should correct the bug some of you mentioned around SDDP as well as many others. Sorry for the delay and pain that this may have caused.

We also just released the 310 routers. I will not give you the sales pitch unless someone wants it. This should be the go to router on most jobs for those that are familiar Araknis today.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hey Derek@SnapAV, I'm up for the sales pitch...

As a Control4 customer with a large residential setup and home office requirements.... We've just thrown out a Pakedge K60D (badged Fortinet 60D), because Package won't maintain the firmware beyond the 7 year old version they have created.

Unfortunately I was looking for my CI to be responsible for my whole network and they have completed re-cabled the property etc to ensure that there is no re-allocation of blame.

Currently, I am using a loan Pakedge RK-1 from my CI for which I am grateful.

However, I wanted decent URL filtering, preferably managed and with different user groups so my children can have a more restricted experience. Certainly not DNS redirection you have to manually create for each site (ala RK1).

I'm also looking for IPSec VPN connectivity back to the network as a home office requirement (hence the K60D originally).

Oh and we need VLAN support and dual wan.

Has the 310 got all this covered? It's looking possible with the recent acquisitions that I can keep my responsibility eggs in the same basket if I choose an Araknis router, but I've had these requirements since day 1 (about 2 years ago now!) and they've never been fulfilled as yet.

Otherwise, looks like I'll be going elsewhere and taking the risk of finger pointing at my self procured router with any network issues...

Many thanks
Barry
