We have an XWR3150 in the field with 2 attached Luxul XAP1410s (the router is functioning as the controller). We have had multiple times now where the wired LAN is up but the WiFi doesn't work. We're able to see this remotely through Domotz/Ovrc components that are hooked up. Once we reboot the router, the WiFi works again.

It seems like the WiFi component (built-in portion of the router and whatever controls the 2 APs) of the router is locking up. The WiFi doesn't work anywhere throughout the house so we know that it isn't just one AP that is bad as the house is big enough to necessitate 3 separate APs.

Anyone else experience this? Luxul doesn't know and we haven't been able to Wireshark it as in these instances, we wanted to get the network up ASAP and not spend time pulling logs.

Thanks in advance

Make sure you have the latest firmware. I had some problems with their switches that was instantly cured by upgrading.
What do you mean you wanted it on the other wall - couldn't you have mentioned this when we prewired?

We had issues where the 1210 ap's where they would just stop wi-fi'ing. As stand alone AP and with the XWC 1000 controller.

No issues after we sub'd in 1310's in place of the 1210's

at the time, firmware updates did not help (but this was quite awhile ago so it's possible that F/W updates now do the trick.)

We've since moved on to EERO. A bunch of LUXUL stuff that we took back is on the shelf gathering dust.

Yes, eero is frustratingly good.

We are having the same exact issue with an ABR-4500 Router

Look into the wireless devices that are in use at the time. ALL of them. Also, make sure nothing is plugged in when its network settings aren't correct- remember how AirPort Express could crash a network because they were set wrong? What about Sonos WiFi? Is that involved?

We have had tons of issues with Luxul gear recently. Seemed like it was better a few years ago. Issues I'm having:

2.4ghz or 5ghz broadcasts, but you cannot connect

The XAP1410 never goes above 30MBS...ever. That is the flakiest WAP I have ever dealt with.

The XAP1510 gets slow and a reboot of the WAP fixes teh problem.

When using a controller, for some reasons devices grab the WAP that is the furthest away. Rebooting the WAP fixes the problem.

When the controller kicks a device because RSSI gets to low, the device always wants to grab the 2.4ghz outdoor WAP which sets at -70 to -80.

POE flakes out and the firmware doesn't fix the problem.

Certain devices connect and certain devices do not. For example, my phone will connect and work fine, but my laptop will not.

Auto Login to the SSID/WPA doesn't work sometimes. Then you have to force the login tot he WiFi.

The router struggles to talk to the modem sometimes.

You cannot lock a device to a certain WAP.

You cannot have a WAP output a specific SSID.

I could go on and on.

We have moved to Ruckus, Mikrotik, and Eero and all of these problems have gone away. I have a pile of Luxul stuff that is in a box that doesn't work as advertised. I am pulling out a ton of Luxul stuff that was also put in by my competitors. It's really sad, because I have several clients with Luxul that have had no problems. I am afraid to update their firmware, just in case the firmware is what sucks on the new units. We just cannot handle the inconsistency and headaches.

Crap product baiting (IMO, no offense) people that don't know any better. I'd say the same with Pakedge.

Way over priced for turd of a product. Stick with well known manufacturers and you can't go wrong.

Like VW above, we use Tik for routers, Unifi and Ruckus for waps, Araknis/Edge/Unifi switches. we don't have any network related problems with this stuff.

I'm surprised to hear that Luxul doesn't know about the issue. I am very familiar with the 3150 issue.

There was a manufacturing error affecting a decent amount of 3150s that triggers a memory dump upon reboot. This memory dump error was fixed with the latest firmware update.

I have so many 3150s deployed it would be too time consuming to go to each (that dont have VPN) and apply the update, so I just wait until I get the call and go fix it.

You have to get the 3150 emergency flash file from Luxul to flash the unit back to factory defaults (units affected by this hardware issue can't be reset with the button on the rear of the unit).

Once you flash the unit and re-set up the network and APs, update the 3150 to the latest firmware and you'll be good to go.

Call Luxul back, they know about this issue on the 3150s, have them walk you through the emergency restore file process.

Just on site today with another switch that had weird POE issues and its running the latest firmware that was supposed to fix these issues. Very annoying. I don;t even want to use it on my J+P projects anymore.

Had a Luxul do this anytime I had a Honeywell security panel connected. Memory usage would creep to close to 100 then WiFi on it would lock up. Messaged tech over and over again with absolutely no response from them over a period of about 6 months.

i still use Luxul network product. Not sure if I should stay with it. I hear a lot of guys using Eero. I realy don't want to use DIY product. But that might help me sell more integration product. Not as much $$ going to network..

I found Sonos and luxul don’t play that well together always. But in general luxul has been pretty good for me.
