So the moral of the story is that you can't count on someone else doing things right. There may not be enough cement between the brick and cinder. It could release very easily if the original work was done wrong.

Thank you for sharing, which is why I want to get something behind the brick substrate.

I found out tonight my stair banisters are held in place by drywall screws...are you kidding me right now!

If the wall fell down, not sure mounting the TV differently would have stopped it. $4!+ happens.
